The Waxahachie ISD dance/drill teams earned a number of awards and accolades at the North Texas Regional Competition Awards held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Rockwall Heath High School.

“All of the Waxahachie ISD dance/drill teams did an amazing job this weekend and all of their routines were astounding,” director Erica Pointer-Wilcox shared in an email. “The girls really stepped up and made it happen. These girls have put in countless hours to get ready and now it’s time to put on the finishing touches to prepare for our next competition.”

As noted during the program’s recent “Chillin’ with the Charmers” showcase, which was held at Waxahachie High School, the dance/drill teams have a busy spring season of competitions ahead, with the Cherokee Charmers and Maidens representing Waxahachie High School and with the district’s three junior highs – Coleman, Finley and Howard – each represented by a team of Chey-Annes.

“I am extremely proud of the Charmers, Maidens and Chey-Annes,” Pointer-Wilcox said. “They have worked so tirelessly.”

Pointer-Wilcox also expressed her appreciation to the program’s parents, saying, “Your daughters are amazing. Thank you to the parents that attended contest with us Saturday to assist in every capacity needed. Another thank you to the executive booster club members for ensuring that all of the dancers had their meals. It’s great to know that we have amazing parents that are so willing to help make our organization great.”
