Crossroads Cowgirl Campout are now on sale

Tickets are now available for the annual Crossroads Cowgirl Campout held at Getzendaner Park during the Crossroads Film Festival. Previously known as Wonderful Women in Waxahachie, the event has been rebranded as the Crossroads Cowgirl Campout and will be run from noon Thursday, April 23, through noon Sunday, April 26.  Tickets for the four-day, all-inclusive event are $200 per Cowgirl Camper and include a VIP pass to the Crossroads of Texas Film and Music Festival, with three nights of concerts, six movie screenings, three evening dinners and breakfast. Other amenities include a commemorative T-shirt and special activities, including arts and crafts. Indian Spirit Store

The Indian Spirit Store at Lumpkins Stadium is open throughout the academic year. Follow the official Facebook Page, Indian Spirit Store. All proceeds help fund athletic expenses, such as pre-game meals. Items sold include Indians apparel, accessories, fan support items and programs.

Mommy and Me Yoga

Your Spirit Sparkle, 112 N. Dallas St. in Ennis, hosts weekly mommy and me yoga classes from 6-6:45 p.m. Wednesdays. The class is led by Madeline Clemons-Looper and is for moms with children between the ages of 2 and 5. The class is $15 to join.

Kids Trapeze Class

The Lord’s Gym in Waxahachie holds one-hour kids trapeze classes from 4-5 p.m. every Saturday. These are specifically geared toward students age 10 years old and older and help build coordination, flexibility, focus and strength. Open to young students at all levels. YMCA karate classes

The Waxahachie Family YMCA offers karate for children ages 7-18 year-round. Register by the 5th of every month. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for youth and 8:30 p.m. for adults. Visit https://bit.ly/2Z91SOv to register.

WYAA year-round programs

Bring Homer to Ellis County

Miracle League of Ellis County is requesting donations so it can have our its Homer costume. He’s the official mascot of The Miracle League. Miracle League of Ellis County athletes love when they have superheroes visit and would especially love to have their very own mascot with them at all their events. Youth Dairy Goat Show

Circle B Farm will host its New Year Bash Dairy Goat Show at the Ellis County Expo Center from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. There will be a $15 entry fee and $5 showmanship entry fee for those interested in participating.

Women’s self-defense class

Lonestar Judo in Ennis is putting on a women’s self-defense class from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, for any woman interested in learning basic self-defense tactics. Early bird registration is under way for the Waxahachie Family YMCA’s spring soccer program for preK-sixth grades. Early bird registration ends Feb. 7 (pricing at $20/$60/$80), with regular registration ending Feb. 14 (pricing at $30/$70/$90). Financial aid assistance deadline is Jan. 31. State cheer championships

The Waxahachie High School varsity cheer team will participate in the 2020 Texas State Spirit Championships on Friday, Jan. 17, at Fort Worth Convention Center.

Performance times are 2:59 p.m. (crowd leading), 4:30 p.m. (band chant) and 6:32 p.m. (fight song). Finals are slated for Saturday, Jan. 18.

YMCA scholarship available

Graduating high school seniors who are members of the Waxahachie Family YMCA are encouraged to apply for the Dallas YMCA Foundation scholarship at http://bit.ly/2LZY5tY.

Selection will be based on grades, financial need, service and the desire to further one’s education.

Students may receive up to $3,000 per year for four years.

Applications are due Saturday, Jan. 18.

Waxahachie Soccer Association registration

In-person registration for the Waxahachie Soccer Association will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Waxahachie.

Board members will be on-site to answer any questions.

Registration payment is accepted in cash, check or credit card.

Bringing the player and their birth certificate is helpful but not required.

Academy will be offering a 20-percent off discount to WSA members during this event as well.

Hachie Rebels 11U baseball team tryouts

SAGU Half Marathon and 5K

SAGU will host a half marathon and 5K in partnership with Altus Emergency from 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 1. The annual SAGU Half Marathon is considered one of the fastest courses in North Texas, with 85-percent of the 13.1 trek on flat ground that covers a good portion of the city of Waxahachie. The course starts and finishes on the campus of Southwestern Assemblies of God University. All participants receive a finisher’s shirt, with a custom finisher’s medal, for the registration of $50. Proceeds from the SAGU Half support the university’s men’s and women’s cross country and track programs.
