WHS football tickets for sale
Waxahachie High School varsity Indians football tickets are available for sale at the Waxahachie Sun offices, 200 N. Rogers St., Suite B. Adult tickets are $6; student tickets are $3. Must purchase by noon Fridays.
Indian Spirit Store
The Indian Spirit Store at Lumpkins Stadium is open throughout the academic year. Follow the official Facebook Page, Indian Spirit Store. All proceeds help fund athletic expenses, such as pre-game meals. Items sold include Indians apparel, accessories, fan support items and programs.
YMCA karate classes
The Waxahachie Family YMCA offers karate for children ages 7-18 year-round. Register by the 5th of every month. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for youth and 8:30 p.m. for adults. Visit https://bit.ly/2Z91SOv to register.
WYAA year-round programs
The Waxahachie Youth Athletic Association is a year-round program for children ages 4-12, with more than 400 participants in its football, basketball, track and cheering programs.

The WHS RBI Club will hold its 14th annual “Classic Country” Mike O’Daniel Memorial Golf Tournament at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris on Monday, Oct. 14. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m., with the tournament to have a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Registration is $100 per player and includes cart fee, green fee and lunch. Fifth annual Pre-Stage Fan Fest
The city of Ennis and Texas Motorplex are partnering up for the fifth annual family-friendly Pre-Stage Fan Fest from 5-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in downtown Ennis. Streets will be blocked off for fans to wander between NHRA pro and sportsman cars, food trucks, music and more. Professional racers will be available for autographs during the event.

5K and 1-Mile Fun Run
The Ennis Monster Mash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will be held from 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at Pierce Park in Ennis. Early-bird registration is available through Sept. 26. 5K registration is $30 and fun run is $20 during early-bird registration. After Sept. 26, prices increase by $5. Participants are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes for the event and all ages and levels of fitness are welcome to take part. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Ellis County will hold a Mystery Bucket Series Playday from 3:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Lonestar Cowboy Church of Ellis County. Books open and exhibition starts at 3:30 p.m., with events set to begin at 5 p.m. Negative Coggins is required at signup. Cost of entry is $35 for three events or $15 per event, with $5 per run for exhibitions and $5 per run for lead line. There are three events: barrels, poles and mystery. Prizes will be given to top three overall. Age groups are 9-under, 10-17 and 18-up. Lead line is open to all ages and on foot only. Concessions available at the event. Benefit Golf Tournament
A benefit golf tournament for Autrey Strong will be held Monday, Oct. 28, at the Waxahachie Country Club, 1920 W. U.S. Highway 287 Business. The tournament will have a noon shotgun start. The fee is $500 per team, which includes cart, green fee and lunch. There will be team prizes, hole prizes and door prizes. Check-in is at 10 a.m., with lunch at 11 a.m. Dinner, awards and an auction will follow the tournament. YMCA dodgeball tournament
Dodge For A Cause will be the first big event in the newly renovated Waxahachie Family YMCA gym this fall. The YMCA is looking for 10-12 dodgeball teams to participate in a dodgeball tournament at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, as a fundraiser for youth programs. Concessions, a DJ, souvenir team photos and other fun activities will be part of this family fun event. Entry fee at the door for spectators will be $5. Stadium seating will be available or you may bring your own lawn chairs. Trophies will be awarded for the top three teams. $500 per team. Teams must register to participate; fee is $500 per team. Downtown Dash 5K and Fun Run
Camp Gladiator Waxahachie is hosting its 4th annual Missy Strong Downtown Dash and 5K from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in downtown Waxahachie. There will be vendors and a live DJ, making this a fun event to attend even if not participating race. Proceeds go toward supporting the Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Club. Cycling for Homeless Veterans
Veterans Benefits Advisors of Ellis County is hosting a bicycling event to raise funds for homeless veterans. This event is a ride, not a race. Manna House and the United Way of West Ellis County host the “Gobble Wobble” race Saturday, Nov. 23, with signups available through Friday, Nov. 22. Choose from a one-mile fun run (8 a.m. start), a 5K (8:30 a.m. start) or a 10K (8:30 a.m. start); the course starts at the Midlothian Conference Center. Signup is $15 for the fun run and $25 for the 5K or 10K races.

Women’s self-defense seminar
Main Street Gym has partnered with Charity Event to put on a domestic violence and self-defense seminar at the Midlothian Conference Center from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. Sessions include topics on practical self-defense, increasing awareness, what to do in dangerous situations, effective escape techniques, crime and using your body as your weapon. The 15th annual Winter Storm 5-A-Side Cup soccer tournament registration is open. The deadline to register is Sunday, Dec. 1. The tournament will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Cedar Hill Sports Complex.

YMCA Santa Run
The Waxahachie Family YMCA hosts its seventh annual Family Santa Run/Walk beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in historic downtown Waxahachie (starting point at the amphitheater). This 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run is a tradition the whole family can enjoy. Every runner receives a five-piece Santa suit to wear during either of the two runs. (Or, people can sign up as Grinches).
