Postponements and Cancelations

Out of concern for the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of events are being postponed or canceled. While the Sun strives to ensure its calendar of events is as accurate as possible, we encourage people to double-check on any event before going to attend as current CDC recommendations are not to hold any event with more than 50 people in attendance.

Of particular note is that the Waxahachie Sports Complex is closed to activity through Monday, May 11.

Livestock Show & Rodeo

The annual Ellis County Livestock Show & Rodeo has been canceled out of concern for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The rodeo may be rescheduled at a later date, with information to be released at that time.

Moth Night

The Indian Trail Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist, will host a free Moth Night from 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Mockingbird Nature Park, 1361 Onward Road, Midlothian. Learn how to use the citizen science tool and app, iNaturalist. Special moth lights will be used to attract, photograph and identify the moths and other insects in the park. Bring a flashlight and camera or smart phone to document the findings.

Ultra and Relay

The kids portion takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, with the other events Saturday, May 2. Cornhole at the Ranch

Paws for Reflection hosts its first Cornhole at the Ranch, a family-friendly fundraiser, at 5431 Montgomery Road, Midlothian, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 2. Tickets at www.eventbee.com. Cost is $50 per two-player team. The tournament will have three guaranteed games for each two-player team. Each participant receives a T-shirt, with trophies presented.
