The free Waxahachie ISD Strength and Conditioning Camp for WISD student-athletes entering grades 7-12 athletic programs is ongoing and will be held weekdays through July 31. No camp July 3, July 7-8 and July 20-21. Some dates may change. Age group, location and times are as follows:

• Girls grade 7-8 @ WHS IAC 7-8:30 a.m.

• Girls grade 9-12 @ WHS IAC 9-10:30 a.m.

• Boys grade 10-12 @ Lumpkins 8-10 a.m.

• Session I Boys grade 10-12 @ Lumpkins 9-11 a.m.

YMCA School Age Day Camp

The Waxahachie YMCA hosts its school age day camp through July 31. The first three weeks will be held at The Avenue Church in Waxahachie and the last four weeks will be held at the Waxahachie Family YMCA. Camp is for children ages 5-12 years old, from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Weekly rate for members is $130 and $156 for non-members. There will also be a $70 supply fee ($60 if you register online). Breakfast, a snack and lunch are provided to campers at no additional cost. Free summer program

Faith Family Academy kicks off its Eagle Flight School, a free, in-person, hands-on summer learning program hosted at its Dallas and Waxahachie campuses on July 6. The annual Summer Sizzler 5V5 will be held Saturday-Sunday, June 27-28, at the soccer fields, 4320 Alta Mesa Blvd., Fort Worth. Equine workshop

4 C Stables will host a two-day Horsing Around: Ladies Weekend Workshop on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28. Saturday’s activities start at 9 a.m., with Sunday’s starting at 2 p.m. The stables are located at 1355 Ovilla Road, Waxahachie. Join us for a weekend of horsemanship, laughter and like-minded ladies who are interested in spending more time with their horse. This ladies only,  full-day Saturday and half-day Sunday experience equates to a weekend of fun. Bring your own horse or rent one of our lesson horses. Full schedule provided to participants. Activities include introduction to the facility’s ETHA certified obstacle course and practice, trail ride and more. Lunch provided both days. Kickball tournament

A kickball tournament will be held between Ennis and Waxahachie youth teams at Penn Park beginning at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28. The tournament will serve as a fundraiser for uniforms, water, Gatorade and other supplies for youth in the community.

The first Ellis County home run derby hosted by KBEC 1390AM/99.1FM will be held from 6-10 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at the Waxahachie Sports Complex, 151 Broadhead Road. The derby is open to all Ellis County baseball players from the class of 2020.
