The Waxahachie High School Iron Indians powerlifting team took first place in the Waxahachie Invitational Meet held at Solis Gym in Waxahachie last week. The Indians took home five first places, three second places and two fourth places for a combined 54 points to push past Corsicana by 10 points.

Congratulations to Dax Lott for breaking the school record in the 148lbs. class. Lott broke Aaron Herrea’s record of 285lbs., which was set in 2009, with a 330lbs. bench press. Lott know owns three school records for powerlifting.

Lady Indian results

The Waxahachie High School Lady Indians powerlifting team competed in the annual Waxahachie Invitational, placing three girls in the top five of their division and with the team placing seventh overall.

The Lady Lifters were led by Mariah Carter, who finished second in her division with a total of 915 lbs. (400 squat)(150 bench)(365 dead lift). Beatriz Garcia totaled 560 and Lexi Chandler lifted 610; both placed fourth in their respective divisions. Haylee Gomez (505) and Skylar Carrigan (405) both placed seventh. Heather Lizarraga did not finish.
