Why are you the best candidate for the office you’re seeking?

I’m the best candidate for the Waxahachie City Council, Place 3, based on several factors. The first is that I listen. I genuinely care about the people of Waxahachie and listen to their concerns so that we can get a resolution to issues. I have a different perspective than the others on council and bring new ideas, along with a down-to-earth, common sense approach to problems we face in the city. Also, I make myself available to constituents and put in the effort to communicate with the community about city business through my electronic newsletter every week.

Please state and discuss your No. 1 goal if elected or re-elected to office.

This is a hard question as there are several things I would like to do; however, my No. 1 goal is to keep our taxes from rising more, while maintaining the same level of services. Many people have been negatively affected by rising taxes and this needs to stop.

Please state and discuss your No. 2 goal if elected or re-elected to office.

Another item that I’d really like to focus on is improved communication between the city and residents. Town halls would be a fantastic way to do this in addition to having more meetings live-streamed.

In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge facing the city of Waxahachie?

The greatest challenges facing the city are those that come along with rapid growth such as traffic and infrastructure.

How do you propose to address this challenge?

I would address these challenges by working more closely with TxDOT to see what changes can be made on 77 to alleviate traffic as well as promoting alternative routes throughout the city. Also, we need to make sure that proper infrastructure is in place for new development and that developers pay their fair share of those costs, while maintaining/replacing our current and aging infrastructure. We need to follow our capital improvement plan and continue replacing that infrastructure (including streets) as we are able to do so.

A lot of discourse focuses on what government does wrong. Please share where you feel the city of Waxahachie does a good job in serving its residents.

The city of Waxahachie has done a tremendous job with its parks and beautification program. As you drive throughout the town, you’ll notice a lot of flowers, which are changed out for the seasons, that are in planters and medians. Many of our parks have had old equipment replaced and are a great place for our kids to play.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the voters?

I would like the voters to know a little about me. I’m a Christian, wife, stay-at-home mom and citizen of Waxahachie. I’m honest and care about people. Serving on the Waxahachie City Council has been an absolute honor and I would like to thank you for this opportunity. I’m available if you have any questions. Texting my cell is the fastest way to reach me and that number is 817-507-5162. I look forward to hearing from you!
