I witnessed the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce’s Waxahachie City Council candidate forum. The incumbents and a few of the candidates presented themselves as worthy of being elected.
However, what did concern me was two candidates that were running on an anti-council platform. They presented nothing that expressed anything positive about Waxahachie.
We can ill afford wasting a voice on our council. It is a place where compromise, an agenda of what will move us forward in a positive manner of how we handle growth, and how we can translate that to benefit all citizens rather meeting one person’s ego or exclusive vision.
The introduction of partisan alignment will not enhance but rather create a divisive wedge at a time when we need a positive, cohesive council. The manner that these two anti-city candidates have run their campaigns is how they will contribute if elected. And that is something we don’t need on the council.
Vote wisely, for the election is a choice between a city of positive action or negative chaos.
Chuck Beatty and Marylou Shipley showed they are our best bet to continue in the former.
