This year we will be electing a new Ellis County and district attorney inasmuch as the current holder of this office (Patrick Wilson) announced that he will not run for another term. Therefore, we are recommending that voters of Ellis County elect Ann Montgomery to this position.

Ann is a native Texan and was born and raised in the neighboring county to our west (Johnson County). After high school, Ann earned a BA degree in political science from UT Arlington and later received her law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth. Then, in 2003, she joined the Ellis County and District Attorney’s Office, where she worked as a prosecutor for Joe Grubbs. When Patrick Wilson was elected to this position in 2016, she continued to take on additional duties and was promoted to the position of first assistant in 2017. Ann has handled every type of case assigned to the office including civil as well as criminal matters, child protective services cases and juvenile cases. She has also assisted in the management of the 43-member office with a $3.9 million budget. This means she is knowledgeable in the operation of the office and would be able to “hit the ground running” when elected. Ann also currently serves on the North Central Texas Council of Government Criminal Justice Policy Development Committee.

In addition to her thorough professional knowledge and skills required to oversee the office, Ann also finds time to be active in her local community (Ellis County and Waxahachie). Such involvements include the Waxahachie Symphony Association (secretary), and the Rotary Club of Waxahachie (board member). In 2016, Ann completed the Leadership Waxahachie training presented by the Chamber of Commerce. As a person of faith, she is a member of First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie. There, she also donates her musical talent as a performer in the church’s instrumental wind ensemble

With her educational background, work experience and her energetic approach, Ann stands ready in every way to more than fulfill the requirements of this job. Therefore, we invite you to please join us in voting for Ann Montgomery as Ellis County and district attorney.
