The Waxahachie Police Department is investigating the shooting death of an individual in the 200 block of Monticello Drive on June 22.

Police responded to the scene at 8:41 p.m., finding a person identified in a media release as Tanner Vaughn, 29, of Red Oak, who had been shot once in the neck. Officers immediately began lifesaving measures until AMR arrived and transported him to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie, where he was pronounced deceased, according to the release.

Police took a male subject who was still at the location into custody, according to the release, which said detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and collected evidence. Multiple witnesses were on scene and provided statements to detectives, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information, videos or photos is asked to contact detective James Taylor of the Waxahachie Police Department at 469-309-4400.
