Waxahachie students honored by Rotary Club — Cathryn Bigham

November Rotary Student of the Month for Waxahachie High School was Cathryn Bigham, the daughter of Brett and Tresa Bigham. She thanks Rotary for giving her the opportunity this past summer to attend Camp RYLA, which allowed her to learn new leadership skills and gain friends she still speaks to. Cathryn is ranked first in her class but says, “We’ll see how that turns out as senioritis kicks in more and more each day.” She has been a part of the varsity cross country team the past four years, winning the district title the past two. She is part of the Student Council and serves as student body secretary. Cathryn is the yearbook editor and, for the past four years, has been involved with the WHS theatre department in both advanced and musical theatre, including the state medaling UIL One Act Play, “Curious Incident of a Dog in the Nighttime.” Outside of school, Cathryn is involved in dance at Danceworks Studio and with The Avenue Church youth group. She is thankful for all she has been a part of in high school but is most thankful for the friendships she has developed along the way. Cathryn will most likely attend the University of Texas at Austin. She thanks God, her family and friends for getting her to where she is today.
