Shoe Buddies

Members of Shoe Buddy and Famous Footwear are assisting children in need this week by fitting them with a new pair of shoes in which to start the school year.

Volunteers with Shoe Buddy and the staff at Famous Footwear are helping local children in need this week with new shoes for the start of the school year.

Shoe Buddy provides vouchers to local aid organizations such as Common Ground Ministries, Waxahachie CARE and local children’s homes that, in turn, give the vouchers to children they know to be in need.

The group’s goal this year is to provide 260 children with shoes and, as of Tuesday, 182 children had been served. The shoe distribution continues through Thursday.

Shoe Buddy, which is working to become a nonprofit of its own, currently works through First Baptist Church of Waxahachie. Donations should be dropped off at the church’s business office, with checks made out to First Baptist Church Waxahachie and marked for “missions” in the memo line. Whether a donation is mailed or dropped off at the church, donors are asked to include a separate note indicating it is for Shoe Buddy.
