FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Waxahachie, Texas – Case# 20.13314 (Aggravated Assault W/Deadly Weapon SBI)
On Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 0001 hours (12:01am), Ellis County Patrol Deputies responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Risinger Road in Ferris, Texas. The call came in as a large gathering of people at an outdoor concert. On scene deputies, along with American Medical Response (AMR), discovered one (1) adult male with a single gun-shot wound to his abdomen. Medical personnel and deputies rendered aid and the adult was taken by CareFlite to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He has been admitted and is in stable condition.
Reports indicated the property was contracted by the land owner to a music festival organization who hosted the event. There was reported to be approximately 2000-3000 people in attendance. Preliminary investigation noted a disturbance between patrons which led to a subject discharging multiple rounds into a crowd of people. As a result, one (1) person was shot and the mass of people in attendance fled the area.
The shooter (suspect) was described as a Hispanic adult male in his early twenties (20s). He was wearing blue jean pants and a black shirt. He was said to have a thin mustache with black hair. His hair was described as shaved on the sides with bowl type length on top. His whereabouts are unknown.
