A large crowd was in attendance Friday, June 18, at the ribbon cutting for Waxahachie’s new option for medical care, Texas Health Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery facility designed exclusively for outpatient surgery.

The center specializes in orthopedics, colon and rectal surgery, gastroenterology (including colonoscopy and endoscopy), urology, ophthalmology, general surgery, and gynecology. The 14,500 square foot facility has three operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Texas Health Surgery Center is the anchor tenant in the overall 26,000 square foot medical office building recently completed by Prime Healthcare Properties. The facility was designed by Grace Hebert Curtis Architects and constructed by Brasfield and Gorrie.

Jim Cangelosi, Texas Health Surgery Center Waxahachie CEO, told the Sun during the gathering that his partnership is proud to bring the service to the community.

“When clinically appropriate as a site of service, outpatient surgery centers like ours are driven to achieve the quadruple aim in health care of quality outcomes and a positive experience for patients, at a lower total cost of care,” Cangelosi said.

“One of our core values is clinical quality,” he continued. “We put our patients first and the patient experience is foremost. High-quality value-based care is what we are all about.”

Texas Health Surgery Center’s stated mission is to care for its patients, serve its physicians and improve health care in the nation. Its vision is to be the safest place in the country to have surgery, according to its website, which lists clinical quality, integrity, service excellence, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement as its core values.

The surgery center is a joint venture between Texas Health’s surgeons, Texas Heath Resources, and surgical care affiliates.

Texas Health Surgery Center Waxahachie is located at 1434 W. U.S. Highway 287 Bypass, Suite 100, in Waxahachie.
