On Saturday, June 27, the Texas Department of State Health Services added another 27 COVID-19 cases for Ellis County, increasing its overall total to 711.
No additional information relating to where those cases are (city), gender or age was released by the state.
The state’s “dashboard” continues to show the following case counts:
• active – 278
• recoveries – 387
• fatalities – 19
A county’s total number of cases should equal the sum of its active cases, recoveries and fatalities. It doesn’t in Ellis County’s case. The state has acknowledged there are lags in reporting data and updating its “dashboard.”
Ellis County is in Trauma Service Area E, which includes Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin and other counties, with an estimated population of 8,080,080. The state reports that there are 1,248 lab-confirmed COVID-19 patients currently admitted in the service area, with 456 ICU beds available.
