On Thursday, the Texas Department of State Health Services notified the Ellis County Local Health Authority of 20 additional confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 and six recoveries. The state reported what is the 19th death of an Ellis County resident on Wednesday.

Overall, the report increases the countywide total to 519 cases of COVID-19, including 367 recoveries. Ellis County currently has 133 active cases, of which 129 are confirmed and four are probable.

“As the total number of COVID-19 cases in Ellis County exceeds 500, please remember this virus still exists within our community,” the county’s media release read. “Members of Ellis County should remain vigilant and continue to take serious precautionary measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19.”
