Public officials, health care workers and volunteers joined together and officially opened the COVID-19 vaccination hub at the Waxahachie Senior Activity Center on Tuesday afternoon.

The hub was projected to give out more than 250 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination during its soft opening and another 1,000 Wednesday. Ellis County has been allotted 5,000 doses of the vaccine for its first week of operation.

Volunteers are still needed to keep operations running smoothly at the vaccination hub. It is estimated it will take around 80 people (including medical professionals, first responders and volunteers) to run the hub daily. Volunteers are needed to serve as wheelchair attendees, logistics personnel, exterior traffic workers and door greeters. To sign up to volunteer, visit: www.signupgenius.com/go/volunteerwaxahachie.

To get the vaccine, people must register online at www.bswhealth.com/covid-vaccine or by calling 844-279-8222. Do not show up without an appointment or call the Waxahachie Senior Activity Center. They will not be able to provide you with information regarding a vaccine.
