The following is a prescribed fire notice for Ellis County that is expected to be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The Ellis County Fire Marshal’s Office will be monitoring a potential prescribed fire being conducted by a third party licensed/insured burn manager.

The county’s burn ban is still in effect; however, the Texas Administrative Code on Environmental Quality- 30 TAC 111.217 (5)(B)/111.219, allows an exemption for licensed burn managers to continue conducting prescribed burns in certain conditions, in order to prevent future wildfires.

If meteorological conditions permit, the prescribed burning will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The prescribed burn will be located at the southwest section of Ellis County of 6442 FM 934, with the fire being located near HCR 4317 and Severe Road.

Smoke is expected to remain light during this burn; however, anyone with health concerns is encouraged to remain indoors with the windows closed. Residents in the surrounding area should not be alarmed but are encouraged to contact the Texas Commissioner on Environmental Quality for any concerns at 1-888-777-3186.
