A renowned leader in the education world, Dr. Bonny Cain is here to continue the excellence in education in Waxahachie ISD.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams
“By the time every student graduates, I hope for them to be college-ready, workforce ready, or military ready.” That is the vision Dr. Cain has for Waxahachie ISD. Starting her first official year as superintendent, Dr. Cain brings the district not only 41 years of experience but an extraordinary background as a superintendent. She started her educational career out as a second-grade teacher and has worked her way up the administrative ladder to now holding the highest position in the field. Out of her 41 years in education, 17 of those have been spent as a superintendent.
“Dr. Cain brings to our district a wealth of Texas public education experience and knowledge, which has helped us tremendously as WISD has grown to over 9000 students,” Melissa Starnater, school board member, said. “She’s put some long overdue processes and procedures in place that will help our district as we strive to help all of our students be successful. If anyone – student, teacher, administrator, or community member, has the chance to get to know her – please do! She genuinely cares about making us be the best we can be.”
Dr. Cain has helped start the construction of the district’s agriscience facility, and Simpson Elementary. She has already accomplished many things in her tenure.
“When I moved here last year after being named the interim superintendent, the community of Waxahachie could not have been more welcoming. I love this community, and I am truly blessed to be able to hold the position.”
One of Dr. Cain’s recent undertakings has been to appoint a new high school principal. Tonya Harris was named principal of WHS in July.
“Dr. Cain is an exceptional leader, she is both supportive and approachable,” Harris said. “She goes above and beyond to ensure that campus principals and staff feel valued and have all the resources necessary to serve the students of WISD. We greatly appreciate Dr. Cain’s leadership.”
In her free time, Dr. Cain enjoys gardening, reading, and being involved with the community as much as possible. We would like to welcome Dr. Bonny Cain as the superintendent for Waxahachie ISD.
