Facebook 101 for Small Business Owners

In this class you will learn the basics of Facebook and how to increase customer engagement with your business through the social media platform. Learn how to utilize social media to do promotions to increase sales and social media subscribers. You will learn how to interact Facebook and Instagram.

Friends and Family CPR

Friends and Family CPR/AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking of an adult, child, and infant. Upon successful completion, the participant would be issued a Friends and Family Heartsaver CPR/AED completion card.

Basics of Photography 

Join this practical photography course for the beginner. You will learn the most essential functions of your camera, gain confidence in putting new functions into action and get the swing of basic photographic terminology. Topics covered will be most relevant for DSLR cameras, not point and shoot. In this class you will learn the basic fundamentals of photography with the first two nights in a classroom setting. The last class you will meet downtown Waxahachie and enjoy hands on learning as your instructor guides you. Three classes.

Metal Detecting Basics

What’s the big deal about metal detecting? This class is designed for those recently new to the hobby, or those who want to learn more about it before taking the plunge. General treasure machines will be introduced and demonstrated. Then, we will move outside and actually locate some targets. If you have a detector, bring it.

Qi Gong

This class is beneficial for all fitness levels. Tai Chi is one of the oldest forms of group exercise. It is a link of unchanging movements that have passed through the centuries of tradition. Qi Gong is a variation of Tai Chi that focuses on stability and balance. Both increases flexibility, improves strength and cardiovascular fitness in a gentle way. Students who attended this class previously can perfect what they have already learned. Please wear comfortable clothes to move in and athletic shoes. Four classes.

Beginning Tennis – Adults

This class is designed for newcomers to tennis or for people that have not played in a long time and need a refresher in skills. The class will focus on the fundamentals of tennis, the forehand, backhand, serve, volley and point simulation. This will be a fun and engaging class that gives you the skills to be able to play “the greatest game in the world.” Classes taught at WHS Campus Tennis Courts 3001 US Highway 287 Bypass. Cowboys, Cattle and the Camera

From early tintypes and ferrotypes to modern photography, the image has always been “proof of existence.” We will look at the history of photography from the 1850s forward with a focus on western culture in the United States.

Basic Dog Obedience

Dog owners will learn basic commands that will enhance the pet-owner bond using positive reinforcement. This course will also cover behavioral problems. Owners will need to bring their pet with a standard buckle collar and 4’-6’ leash. Please bring vaccination certificates for pets as well as training treats. Bring your pet for the first class so the training can begin. Limit nine students. Five classes.

Beginner’s Yoga

This beginner’s yoga workshop is for all fitness levels. If you have always wanted to try yoga or enhance your practice, this course will teach you the foundations and give you tools to practice yoga that fits your lifestyle, fitness goals and needs. You will learn body awareness, breath techniques and basic poses. Yoga helps increase strength, flexibility and balance. Please wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move in. Historical Walk to Wellness

Join this class and get fit through walking. This class is designed for all levels of walkers. Beginning Crochet

Join this beginning class as you learn to crochet. You will learn how to make a beanie hat with a pompom on top. Etsy Selling Basics

Do you craft? Or have a passion for vintage? Have you ever thought about turning that into a way to make extra money or even turn it into a full-time job? This course will give you the bare bones information about selling on one of the most popular platforms today, Etsy. Do you need a tax ID? A business name? How do you set up a profile? These are just a few of the questions we will answer to get you going. It isn’t as hard as you think.

Basic Photography for Etsy Beginners

If you talk to experienced online sellers you will find that the number one thing you need to have optimized to actually sell your goods is your pictures. People can’t touch and hold your beautiful item, the pictures have to sell it and surprisingly you don’t need expensive equipment to make great pictures. In this course we will teach simple techniques to take pictures that will actually help sell your beautiful handmade or other items.

Fall Preview Class for Spring Birding 101

Join this class if you plan to sign up for the spring class, or anyone who just wants to come along on an outdoor learning experience to find and identify birds. We will be meeting in the parking area near the first set of restrooms and the beginning of the hike and bike trail in Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie. Bring binoculars if possible, as it is difficult to see many birds without them. We will go through some pointers and suggestions for finding and viewing birds in the park, as well as helping with identification strategies. Be prepared to walk a couple of miles on a good trail. We will wrap up at dusk.

If you are a landowner or have newly acquired a farm or ranchland and are seeking information for the best way to utilize your property, join this experienced instructor for advice. This class will be held at the Ellis County Texas A&M Agri Life Extension Office 701 S. I-35E, Suite 3 in Waxahachie. Four classes.

Cooking – Instant Pot Pressure Cooker A

In this fast-paced world we are constantly trying to find ways to save time in the kitchen and still prevent growing waistlines. The electric pressure cooker is the answer to our cry for ‘help’ by making it possible to create nutritious flavor-packed meals in minutes. Like many others, you may have questions about the electric pressure cooker: Is it safe? How do I use it? Is it really worth the money? Electric pressure cookers are among the newest lines of kitchen appliances. But what are they, how do they work, what foods can you cook in one and are they really safe? We will answer these questions and more as we explore the ins and outs of “instacooking” through this hands-on learning class. Healthy taste testing included.

Air Fryer Cooking Class

With new technologies come new ways to cook healthier. Air fryers, a relatively new appliance on the market, offer a means to prepare crispy, hot food without the added fat of traditional frying. Cooking for Food Allergies – Gluten, Dairy, Nut Free

A food allergy can be life threatening. But having food allergies does not mean you have to sacrifice your love of food. This class will discuss alternatives and substitutes that can be used in various recipes. The focus will be placed on how to enjoy food with gluten, dairy and nut allergies. Recipe books and recipe demonstrations will be included in this class.

Mediterranean Cooking with Garden Herbs

If you are looking for a heart-healthy eating plan, the Mediterranean diet might be right for you. The Mediterranean diet blends the basics of healthy eating with the traditional flavors and cooking methods of the Mediterranean. This diet also emphasizes the use of herbs and spices to make dishes flavorful. In this class you will learn the basics of the Mediterranean diet and tips for starting or maintaining your own herb garden. Class will include recipe demonstrations and helpful garden instruction.
